Stripped and rebuilt a wall for me. Fantastic job. Great price. Overall I would highly recommend. || We do not recommend Edinburgh Stone Repair. We hired them to repoint the gable end of our stone cottage where we observed various worrying things, which when we questioned we were met with rudeness and verbal abuse. They stormed off site leaving the job unfinished. We contacted the Scottish Lime Center Trust and showed photographs of the work; they confirmed it did not look like best practices had been followed.. Examples include: using power tools (resulting in some stones being damaged with cut marks or their edges squared off), the existing joints only raked out by 10mm in many places (despite some joints having a width of 20mm+), pointing onto dusty dry walls, the lime not being compacted into the joints, and the pointing not always being sufficiently covered or the hessian damped down (the weather was 20 degrees with direct sun). A final gripe was their lack of respect for our property and garden – no areas were covered or protected and so we had lime splattered all over our new paths, bin store, plants and grass. Waste lime water was even dumped into our plants. Whilst I appreciate it can be hard to have your work questioned on site, ultimately Steven agreed with my observations, and indeed in one instance chose to ask his masons to rake out the fresh lime and start again. I was polite throughout the entire job, yet Steven stood in my garden shouting “you know absolutely nothing”, “you must have OCD or somethin’”, and “you’re off your heed”. I was home alone with my young children and I was made to feel scared and threatened. So from both a quality of workmanship and from a professionalism point of view – I do not recommend Steven or his team. || The mullions on our 150 year old bay window had cracked and were laminating. Steven and his team provided an excellent service. Not only is the end result very good, but they cleaned up thoroughly afterwards and, once the scaffolding was down, cleaned the windows.
