Older homes lose heat through their walls, and many of them can’t take standard insulation. Solid stone, damp-sensitive brick and awkward details often rule out boards and external wall insulation. That’s the problem we set out to solve. CorkSol UK was founded in Halifax in 2015. We were the first company to bring sprayed cork coating to the UK. Our product, CorkSol SprayCork™, is made mainly from natural cork granules, about 75% by volume, blended with solvent-free resins and mineral fillers. It contains no VOCs. It’s applied in a thin, seamless layer inside or outside, and it lets walls breathe, which spray foam and many other insulation products don’t. Independent testing shows up to 30% less heat loss through solid walls (ISO EN9869-1:2014). The coating is Class II vapour permeable and has a B-s1-d0 fire classification. CorkSol SprayCork Natural holds KIWA certification as internal wall insulation. Because it’s sprayed as one continuous layer, it seals the small cracks and gaps that let draughts in. On a project for Wheatley Group, testing measured a 45% improvement in air permeability. The coating also follows corners, reveals and junctions that rigid boards can’t reach, which cuts the thermal bridges where heat escapes and cold spots form. Internal wall surfaces can be up to 4°C warmer, which reduces condensation and the conditions mould needs providing a route cause solution. We’re a certified member of the IAA, a registered system designer and a PAS 2030 installer. Installations can be covered by an Insurance Backed Guarantee through the IAA, so your cover stays in place even if the installer stops trading. We also work with housing associations, councils and contractors on larger retrofit programmes. Get in touch to arrange a survey of your property.
